W3E League kicked off on Thursday 9th March with a very exciting week 1! Pro’s and semi-pro’s from all over the world are competing for that number one spot and a chance to win prizes and qualifications to the W3E Championships 2023 tournament later this year. We had some very close games, some blowouts and a couple of forfeits but here are the results of Week 1.
Results:
- Floating Birds and AoK both took one game each at 1-1, scores of 21-33 and 22-21 for 3 points each. Floating Birds placed 4th in the W3E Championships 2022 and went into the game as heavy favorites against the newly formed AoK, only to be stunned with a clear AoK victory in the first game. Game two was a very entertaining back and forth between leads, Floating Birds managing to hold a 1 kill lead to secure a victory.
- XBorg EU defeated SAGE E-Sports 2-0 with scores of 50-4 and 50-4. W3E Championships 2022 champions, XBorg, return as XBorg EU, and Lex and Eske picked up where they left off, dominating right from the start. Newcomers SAGE were unable to find a solution to the defending champions and were blown out 50-4 twice in a row. It’s hard to imagine who can stop XBorg EU.
- Eternity NA defeated YGG 2-0 with scores of 41-29 and 41-18 for 6 points. Eternity’s NA team made their debut in W3E and were playing exceptionally well against newcomers YGG. They had great team play and largely shut out YGG from start to finish.
- Delta SEA defeated IntroXpector 2-0 with scores of 50-39 and 50-38 to score the full 6 points. Two newcomers to W3E events and we saw lots of back and forth action on Dusk. Delta’s Fawn and Maoshiba favoring the sword to finish off weakened opponents with some aggressive play.
- XBorg NA defeated Hot Heads 2-0 with scores 41-30 and 50-5 to score the full 6 points. XBorg NA made their debut in impressive fashion against W3E Championships 2022 3rd place, Hot Heads. A close first game for home team Hot Heads that featured SUR3R in fine form but an equally strong performance for XBorg’s N8 grabbed the win. In game two on the US East server, Hot Heads had a lot of issues and BicBoi began to shine on home turf for XBorg.
- In our last two games, outside factors meant that Eternity EU defeated XBorg Suwy via forfeit and Eternity EUC defeated Method Meta Guild (MMG) by forfeit also. All four teams will be in action in Week 2.
